Brad Pitt, an American writer named Roland, and Angelina Jolie, a dancer named Vanessa, portray the main characters in the film inspired by Emily Dickinson's poem of the same name. The story takes place in rural France in the 1970s and tells a romantic drama. As time goes by, the couple's feelings and understanding towards each other change. Angelina Jolie, who wrote the screenplay and directed the film, says the following about 'By the Sea': "The reason for this film to be set in the 1970s is not only the allure of colors but also being far away from all the madness of modern life... The characters focus solely on their emotions and embark on an inner journey." The filming of the movie started in Malta on September 8th and will continue until mid-November. It is planned to be released in 2015.
